IMMUNISATIONS
Immunisations, or Vaccinations, help protect whānau from serious illnesses like measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), the flu, whooping cough, and more.
They work by teaching your immune system how to fight off harmful germs, so you’re less likely to get very sick if you're exposed later on.
.

Vaccinations are one of the best ways we can protect our whānau from serious illnesses like the flu, measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), whooping cough and more. From pēpi and tamariki to pakeke, kaumātua and RSE workers – getting immunised keeps us all safer and stronger.
For Māori communities, health and wellbeing are about whanaungatanga – looking after each other across the generations. When we immunise, we’re showing aroha and manaaki for our tamariki, mokopuna and kaumātua. It’s especially important before kura or kōhanga, during flu season, or if you’re working closely with others like in seasonal mahi.
Most vaccinations are free and easy to catch up on. If you're unsure what you or your tamariki need, have a kōrero with your nurse or local clinic.
