Our Events

We’ve had some awesome hui at Uruuruwhenua lately – from wānanga and whānau-friendly events to immunisation clinics to help keep our hapori hauora. It’s been great to see so many people coming together to learn, share kai, and support each other.

Looking ahead, we’ve got more kaupapa coming up – including community events, health days, and chances to get immunised. These are all about manaaki, whakawhanaungatanga, and building strong, connected communities. Nau mai, haere mai – we’d love to see you there!

A & P Shows

We were proud to be part of this year’s A&P Shows, offering free health checks, vaccinations, and a warm dose of manaaki to our communities. Our team was on hand to provide trusted healthcare support in a relaxed, whānau-friendly setting—ensuring people could look after their hauora while enjoying the day. It was a great opportunity to connect, kōrero, and bring health services closer to where people are.

Merino Shears 2024

We were honoured to be one of the major sponsors of the 2024 Uruuruwhenua Merino Shears—an event that celebrates the skill, endurance, and heritage of Aotearoa’s wool industry. Wool is more than just a product—it's part of our history, our economy, and our identity.

This year, we were especially proud to have some of our own kaimahi step up and compete, showcasing not only their talent and determination but also the deep connections between our mahi and the communities we serve. Supporting the Merino Shears is about backing excellence, tradition, and whānau—and we were thrilled to be a part of it.

Matariki 2024

For Matariki 2024, Uru embraced the spirit of reflection, renewal, and connection with a week-long celebration for our tamariki and rangatahi. Each day, we honoured one of the nine stars of Matariki with a special activity that reflected its unique kaupapa—from sharing kai and painting, to storytelling, waiata, and exploring the environment together.

To wrap up the week, we turned up the lights and the music with a vibrant Matariki Disco—an evening full of laughter, movement, and manaaki. It was a beautiful way to celebrate the rising of the stars and the bright futures of our young ones, while strengthening the ties that bind us as whānau and hapori.

Whānau Christmas Party

To close out the year, we came together for a joyful Whānau Christmas Party—celebrating the year that was and, most importantly, each other. The day was filled with waiata, laughter, kai, and fun activities for all ages. One of the highlights was seeing some of our brave and talented tamariki take the stage to sing, filling the room with pride and festive cheer.

It was a beautiful way to reflect on our shared journey, reconnect as whānau, and end the year with aroha and joy.
